Seven centennial Zeynel Bey Shrine to move tomorrow

It is learned that the seven centennial Zeynel Bey Shrine located in Hasankeyf, the ancient district of Turkiye’s Batman, which will be buried in the waters with Ilisu Dam, will be moved to the New Cultural Park Area with special system tomorrow.

Historical artifacts are being moved in Hasankeyf which will remain under the Ilisu Dam. It was learned the Zeynel Bey Shrine is going to be moved tomorrow morning early hours.

Zeynel Bey Mausoleum will be the first historical monument to be moved in Hasankeyf.

The transportation process costs about 16 million TL and the transportation of the Shrine in the project will take place with hydraulic system. In addition, Forest and Water Affairs Minister Veysel Eroğlu is expected to participate during the transportation process.

Zeynel Bey Mausoleum planned to be transported before the end of the month but could not be transported due to the weather conditions, and transportation was adjourned every time. Tomorrow, the Shrine planned to be moved in the first hours of the morning will be followed by a large number of journalists.

History of the Shrine

Zeynel Bey Shrine is the only work left by the ‘Ak-Qoyunlu’ in Hasankeyf in 1462-1482. It is stated that Zeynel Bey is the son of Uzun Hasan, the ruler of Ak-Qoyunlu, and lost his life in the Battle of Otlukbasi (1473 M.), which took place between Ak-Qoyunlu and Ottomans. (M.
