There is no justice in the UN Security Council
Speaking in India, Turkiye’s President Erdoğan said, “What is expected from the United Nations Security Council is justice. Is there justice in the United Nations Security Council? There is nothing like that.”
President Erdoğan, who has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Jamia Millia Islamic University in India, said in his speech that “What is expected from the United Nations Security Council? It is Justice. Is there justice in the United Nations Security Council? There is nothing like that. When Erdogan says this, it becomes hard and unlovable, but to whom we will endear ourselves? If we can endear ourselves to the victims of the world and oppressed, this is enough for us.”
President Erdoğan expressed his gratitude to been in Jamia Milia Islamic University, which has been operating since 1920. President Erdoğan also expressed satisfaction with finding a worthy honorary doctorate by a well-established and respected higher education institution.
Despite the distances between them, President Erdoğan reminded that the relations of India and Turkiye had a deeply rooted historical background.
“Turkiye-India relations are far behind the level that should be today”
"We, as Turkiye, have a sincere willingness to develop and strengthen all our political, economic and cultural relations with India,” Erdoğan said, adding that Turkiye-India relations are far behind what is needed today.
“We believe that international stability and peace can be achieved in a fair system”
President Erdoğan underlined that the experienced political and economic instabilities in the world, imbalances in income level, problems such as poverty, youth unemployment, irregular migration and terrorism, which cannot be solved by any country alone, can be solved only by the joint efforts of all states. “Turkiye is approaching all these issues with a foreign policy understanding centered on human being and conscience. We believe that international stability and peace can only be achieved in a fair system.”
Emphasizing on the structure of international institutions those are officials to solve problems should be restored, especially a carcass of Nations Security Council, President Erdoğan said, “Who can claim that the Security Council has a healthy structure while one of the most important country in the world India with 1 billion 300 million population is not in? How fair can a Security Council, where 1 billion 700 million Muslims are not represented?” asked President Erdoğan and said these distortions lay at the basis of his saying “the world is bigger than five”.
President Erdoğan continued his words as follows: “Now the same problem is also said in almost all international organizations. The one who is strong is the one who is right. If you are not strong then you are not right. But we say that; no, the one who is right should be the strong one. Global system which established as centered Europe-America after the Second World War, is moving away from advocating the rights of the rest of the world. Look at Syria, look at Iraq. What kind of justice do they talk about when everything is so clear? Killed Assad killed people close to a million, provokes a state of terror is still at the head of Syria despite the United Nation, there is no more word to say.”
