Turkey: House sales increases by 124.1% in April

In Turkey, house sales increased by 124.1% in April 2021 compared to the same month of the previous year and became 95 thousand 863, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Wednesday.

İstanbul had the highest share with 20.1% and 19 thousand 260 house sales. The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with 9 thousand 126 house sales and İzmir with 5 thousand 505 house sales with the share of 9.5% and 5.7% respectively. The provinces where the lowest number of sales were Ardahan with 9, Hakkari with 13, and Gümüşhane with 50 house sales.

17 thousand 514 ownership of the houses changed by mortgaged sales

The mortgaged house sales in Turkey became 17 thousand 514 by increasing 2.5% compared to the same month of the previous year. House sales with mortgages had an 18.3% share of all house sales. İstanbul had the highest share with 21.5% and 3 thousand 769 mortgaged sales. Hakkari had the lowest number of mortgaged sales with 1 house sales.

Ownership of 78 thousand 349 houses changed by other sales

Other house sales in Turkey became 78 thousand 349 by increasing 204.9% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the other sales, İstanbul was the first province with 15 thousand 491 sales and 19.8% share. Other house sales had an 80.4% share of all house sales in İstanbul. Ankara was the second province with 6 thousand 867 sales. Ankara was followed by İzmir with 4 thousand 300 sales. The province where the lowest number of other sales was Ardahan with 7 sales.

29 thousand 212 houses were sold for the first time

First-time sales in Turkey became 29 thousand 212 by increasing 96.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. First-time sales had a 30.5% share of all house sales in Turkey. The highest number of first-time sales was in İstanbul with 5 thousand 232 sales and share with 17.9%. The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with a thousand 869 house sales and İzmir with a thousand 530 house sales.

Ownership of 66 thousand 651 houses changed by second-hand sales

Second-hand house sales in Turkey became 66 thousand 651 by increasing 138.6% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the second-hand sales, İstanbul was the first province with 14 thousand 28 sales and 21.0% share. Share of the second-hand sales was 72.8% in İstanbul in total house sales. Ankara was the second province with 7 thousand 257 sales and Ankara was followed by İzmir with 3 thousand 975 sales.

Houses sales decreased by 6.5% in the January-April period

In the January-April period, 358 thousand 913 houses were sold and decreased by 6.5% compared to the same period of the previous year. Mortgaged sales were 64 thousand 730 and decreased by 55.8%. In other sales, it was 294 thousand 183 and increased by 23.9%. In this period, houses sold for the first time decreased by 10.4% and became 109 thousand 582. Second-hand house sales decreased by 4.7% and became 249 thousand 331.

 In April, 4 thousand 77 houses were sold to foreigners

House sales to foreigners became 4 thousand 77 by increasing 416.1% compared to the same month of the previous year. İstanbul was the first province with 2 thousand 9 sales to foreigners in April. The followers of İstanbul were Antalya with 859 house sales, Ankara with 228, Mersin with 197, and Bursa with 131 house sales to foreigners.

In the January-April period, house sales to foreigners became 13 thousand 964 by increasing 19.0% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Most house sales were made to Iran citizens according to country nationalities

In April, Iran citizens bought 557 houses from Turkey. The followers of Iran citizens were Iraq with 546 house sales, Russia with 402, Afghanistan with 229, and Kazakhstan citizens with 188 house sales.
