Turkey: Number of road motor vehicle registrations slumps by 18.0% in August

In August, 95 thousand 896 road motor vehicle registrations were recorded in Turkey, the country’s statistical institute said.

Regarding the vehicle registrations in August, cars accounted for 48.2%, followed by motorcycles 30.6%, small trucks 13.8%, tractors 4.1%, trucks 2.3%, minibuses 0.6%, buses 0.3% and special purpose vehicles 0.1%.

The number of road motor vehicle registrations decreased by 18.0% compared with the previous month

In August, compared with the previous month, the number of road motor vehicle registrations increased by 15.6% for buses and special purpose vehicles and 3.5% for motorcycles while it decreased by 26.9% for cars, 23.4% for trucks, 23.3% for small trucks, 9.3% for tractors and 6.4% for minibuses respectively.

The number of road motor vehicles registered decreased by 7.7% compared with the same month of the previous year

In August, compared with the same month of the previous year, the number of road motor vehicle registrations increased by 25.0% and 15.5% for trucks and motorcycles, while it decreased by 84.2%, 38.2%, 20.1%, 18.3%, 16.1% and 2.9% for special purpose vehicles, buses, minibuses, cars, tractors and small trucks respectively.

At the end of August, the total number of road motor vehicles registered reached 24 million 933 thousand 974

At the end of August, cars represented 54.3%, small trucks 16.3%, motorcycles 14.7%, tractors 8.0%, trucks 3.5%, minibuses 2.0%, buses 0.9% and special purpose vehicles 0.3% of total number of road motor vehicles registered.

799 thousand 556 road motor vehicles handed over in August

Among vehicles handed over in August, cars accounted for 68.7% followed by small trucks 16.0%, motorcycles 7.5%, tractors 3.1%, trucks 2.1%, minibuses 2.0%, buses 0.5% and special purpose vehicles 0.1%.

In August, 46 thousand 208 cars were registered to the traffic

In terms of the distribution of trademarks for the new registered cars in August, Fiat recorded 13.1%, Renault 10.7%, Hyundai 8.9%, Volkswagen 7.5%, Dacia 6.9%, Toyota 6.5%, Honda 4.5%, Skoda 4.0%, Kia 4.0%, Mercedes-Benz 3.8%, Citroen 3.7%, Nissan 3.2%, Opel 3.1%, Audi 3.1%, Ford 3.1%, BMW 2.9%, Seat 2.6%, Peugeot 2.0%, Volvo 1.5%, Suzuki 1.2% and the other trademarks 3.7% of the total.

In the period of January-August 820 thousand 173 road motor vehicles were registered

In January-August period, compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of registered vehicles increased by 30.0% and became 820 thousand 173 while the number of withdrawn road motor vehicles decreased by 14.4% and became 27 thousand 392. Hence, in the period of January-August the increase in motor vehicles registered became 792 thousand 781.

In the period of January-August the ratio of cars registered using gasoline was 61.1%

Among 452 thousand 616 cars registered in the period of January-August, the share of gasoline-fueled cars was 61.1% followed by diesel-fueled cars with 24.9%, electric or hybrid cars with 8.5% and LPG-fueled cars with 5.5%. At the end of August, among 13 million 547 thousand 20 registered cars, the share of diesel-fueled cars was 37.8% followed by LPG-fueled cars with 36.1% and gasoline-fueled cars with 25.2%. The share of electric or hybrid cars was 0.6% and the cars with unknown fuel type was 0.3%.

Most frequent engine size was 1401-1500 for registered cars in the January-August period

Within 452 thousand 616 cars registered to traffic in January-August period, 30.5% had 1401-1500, 25.9% had 1300 or less, 21.4% had 1301-1400, 15.0% had 1501-1600, 6.1% had 1601-2000, 0.7% had 2001 and above engine size.

In January-August period 183 thousand 820 of cars registered were white

Within 452 thousand 616 cars registered to traffic in January-August period, 40.6% of them were white, 27.9% were grey, 10.7% were blue, 7.9% were red, 6.5% were black, 2.1% were orange, 1.1% were brown, 0.6% were yellow, 0.4% were green and 2.1% were in other colors.
