Turkey’s export unit value index increased by 11.8% in September

As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall export unit value index increased by 11.8% in September, the Turkish Statistical Institute said.

In the same month, compared to September 2020, the index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), fuels, and manufactured goods (except food, beverages, and tobacco) increased by 7.6%, 24.6%, 75.2%, and 10.2%, respectively.

The overall export unit value index increased by 12.7% in Quarter III 2021, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.

The overall export volume index increased by 16.3%

The overall export volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 16.3% in September. Compared with September 2020, the index for food, beverages, and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 10.8%, 22.4%, 23.0% and 16.9%, respectively.

The overall export volume index increased by 15.0% in Quarter III 2021, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.

The overall import unit value index increased by 23.4%

As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall import unit value index increased by 23.4% in September. The index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 20.2%, 62.2%, 65.3% and 18.5%, respectively.

The overall import unit value index increased by 26.6% in Quarter III 2021, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.

The overall import volume index decreased by 9.2%

In September, the overall import volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year decreased by 9.2%. While the index for crude materials (except fuels) decreased by 10.5%, the index for food, beverages and tobacco, fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 38.6%, 0.2% and 0.1%, respectively.

The overall import volume index decreased by 7.4% in Quarter III 2021, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.

The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index decreased by 1.0%

The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index which was 149.1 in August 2021, decreased by 1.0%, to 147.7 in September 2021. The calendar-adjusted export volume index which was 129.3 in September 2020, increased by 16.3%, to 150.4 in September 2021.

The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index decreased by 3.2%

The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index which was 110.0 in August 2021, decreased by 3.2%, to 106.5 in September 2021. The calendar adjusted import volume index which was 117.1 in September 2020, decreased by 9.2%, to 106.3 in September 2021.

Terms of trade was 88.4 in September 2021

Terms of trade is calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index, then multiplying the result by 100. While terms of trade was 97.5 in September 2020, it decreased by 9.1 points to 88.4 in September 2021.

Terms of trade decreased by 11 points to 89.4 in Quarter III 2021, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.
