US sales $ 295.6 million arms to Peshmerga

US State Department says it has approved $ 295.6 million weapons sale to Iraq for Peshmerga forces

The US State Department issued a written statement on the sale of arms for two infantry and two artillery brigades belonging to Peşmerge on Iraq's "request".

“These infantry and artillery brigades will work with the central government under the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (IKBY) Peshmerga Ministry,” the statement said, adding that the total value of the sale was $ 295.6 million.

Some of the weapons approved for sale were reported to include:

“4400 pieces of M16 A4, 46 pieces of 2- calibres DShK50, 186 pieces of M240B weapon, 36 pieces of Hammer military vehicle, 17 pieces of shot-proof Hammer military vehicle, 12 pieces of 3 KW military purpose generator, numerous bullet-proof vests and military uniform, special howitzer system and Electronic Sonar System for chemical guns, the special CPS and the military SPS equipment.”

In addition, some Armored Personnel vehicles, military ambulances, fuel tanks required for the transfer of fuel is also expected to be among the inventory to be sold.

While the Defense Security Cooperation Agency has informed the US Congress on the subject on March 18th, the US State Department issued a total of $ 22 billion in arms sales to Iraq under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program since 2005. (ILKHA)
