US Secretary of State Pompeo: We stand with Saudi Arabia

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the U.S. stands by Saudi Arabia against the attacks and support its right to defend itself.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Saudi regime Crown Prince Mohammed bin Selman in Riyadh, discussed the attacks on oil facilities of Saudi Arabia.

The United States stands by Saudi Arabia against the attacks and supports its right to self-defense, Pompeo said in a statement on the meeting, adding that the Iranian regime's threatening behavior will not be tolerated."

U.S. State Department spokesman Morgan Ortagus also issued a written statement regarding the meeting.

"The Secretary and the Crown Prince discussed the recent attacks by Iran against oil facilities in Saudi Arabia," Ortagus said in a statement.

Ortagus stated that the Secretary and the Crown Prince agreed that this was an unacceptable and unprecedented attack that not only threatened Saudi Arabian national security but also endangered the lives of all the American citizens living and working in Saudi Arabia, as well as the world’s energy supply in general.

"The Secretary and the Crown Prince discussed the need for the international community to come together to counter the continued threat of the Iranian regime and agreed that the Iranian regime must be held accountable for its continued aggressive, reckless, and threatening behavior," the statement read.
