Coronavirus: Iran reports 12,950 new cases, 389 deaths in the last 24 hours

Iran has reported 389 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 47,874, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Sunday.

After 12,950 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 948,749 in the country.

There are at least 5,859 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 658,292 patients have been discharged from hospital after being cured.

So far, more than 6,081,952 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,460,541 with 62,692,506 cases and more than 43,311,344 recoveries.
