Services exports increases by 1.1% in 2019

Services exports were 33.8 billion dollars in 2019, and imports were 24 billion dollars, Turkish Statistical said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to International Trade in Services Statistics (ITSS), while services exports were 33.4 billion dollars in 2018, it increased by 1.1% to 33.8 billion dollars in 2019.

While service imports were 23.9 billion dollars in 2018, it increased by 0.4% in 2019 to 24.0 billion dollars.

Transportation services had the highest share with 71.7% in services exports

According to the Extended Balance of Payments Services Classification, while the share of transportation in total exports was 72.9% in 2018, it was 71.7% in 2019. The "other business services" was ranked at the second with 8.2% in 2018 and 9.4% in 2019. "Telecommunication, computer and information services" was the third with the share of 4.6% in 2019.

Transport services exports were 24 billion 197 million dollars in 2019

While services exports in transport, which accounted for nearly three-quarters of total service exports, was 24 billion 340 million dollars in 2018. Transport exports value was decreased to 24 billion 197 million dollars by 0.6% in 2019.

Transportation services had the highest share with 40.1% in services imports too

The share of transportation in total imports was 40.1% in 2019 while it was 39.6% in 2018. The "Other business services" was ranked at the second with 22.0% in 2018 and 23.1% in 2019. "Telecommunication, computer and information services" was the third with the share of 9.1% in 2019.

The exports and imports of services were made with European Union at most

Services exports to the European Union in 2019 were 15 billion 111 million dollars, while exports to other European countries were 3 billion 047 million dollars. Imports from the European Union were 11 billion 750 million dollars, and from other European countries were 1 billion 413 million dollars in 2019.

European Union was the group with the highest share in total trade in services

European Union became the leading group of countries in Turkey's exports and imports of services. European Union ranked first with the share of 44.8% in 2019 in terms of services exports; and the first in services imports with 49.1% in 2019.

Germany ranked first both in services exports and imports

In 2019, 25.6% of total exports and 25.8% of imports were with Germany, the USA and the United Kingdom.

Germany took the first place for services exports with 4 billion 119 million dollars with the share of 12.2%, the USA ranked second with the share of 7.7% and the United Kingdom ranked third with the share of 5.7% in 2019.

The top country for Turkey's services imports was Germany with the share of 9.0% and 2 billion 153 million dollars in 2019. USA ranked second with the share of 9.0% and 2 billion 144 million dollars, and the United Kingdom ranked third with the share of 7.8% in 2019.
