Brazil’s death toll from coronavirus rises to 64,900

The number of confirmed cases has reached 1,604,585 in Brazil, an increase of 26,209 cases in the last 24 hours.

Brazil has reported 535 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s death toll from the virus to 64,365.

Brazil is the country with the second-highest number of coronavirus-related deaths in the world.

The country also ranks second in the world in terms of total cases, behind the United States.

While at least 8,318 patients are being treated in intensive care units, more than 979,000 patients suffering from coronavirus have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.

Sao Paulo, the country’s most-populated state, continues to be the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil. The state has so far reported more than 320,000 confirmed coronavirus cases, with at least 16,078 deaths.

According to the country’s Health Ministry, anesthetics and muscle relaxants used for intubated patients who had complications of the disease were with zero stocks in some localities

“Due to the shortage of drugs used in intubation of patients who had complications due to coronavirus, the Health Ministry is supporting states and municipalities, in an action to normalize stocks as soon as possible,” the Ministry said.
