Chile reports 252 new deaths from coronavirus
Chile has reported 252 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s death toll from the virus to 4,093.
The number of confirmed cases reached 231,393 in the country, an increase of 6,290 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry.
1645 patients are mechanically ventilated in intense care units. Of those, 395 patients are in critical condition.
Until now, 191,491 people suffering from the disease have been discharged from hospital after being cured.
Last week, the country’s Health Minister, Jaime Manalich, resigned amid controversy over the official death toll from coronavirus pandemic in the country. Manalich is replaced by Enrique Paris.
