Coronavirus: Brazil reports 1,164 new deaths, 58,081 cases in the last 24 hours

1,164 more people have died from coronavirus in Brazil over the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s death toll from the virus to 104,263.

The number of confirmed cases has reached 3,170,474 in the country, an increase of 58,081 cases in the last 24 hours.

While at least 8,318 patients are being treated in intensive care units, more than 3,170,474 patients suffering from coronavirus have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.

Sao Paulo, the country’s most-populated state, continues to be the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil. The state has so far reported more than 655,000 confirmed coronavirus cases, with at least 25,869 deaths.

Meanwhile, Arnaldo Medeiros, secretary for health vigilance, said that Brazil is a world reference in vaccination and is prepared for the distribution of vaccines for Covid19, when they are available.

On Wednesday, a Brazilian technology institute, known as Tecpar, announced that it signed a cooperation agreement with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) in order to import the coronavirus vaccine earlier than the production date, if Brazilian federal health regulator Anvisa allows.
