Coronavirus: United States reports 687 new deaths in the last 24 hours

687 people have died from coronavirus in the past 24 hours, rising the United States’ death toll from the virus to 131,485, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The U.S. has the highest death toll from coronavirus in the world, followed by Brazil with 61,990 deaths, the United Kingdom with 43,995 deaths and Italy with 34,818 deaths.

2,837,189 people have until now tested positive for coronavirus in the country, an increase of 57,236 new cases in the past 24 hours.

At least 1,191,091 patients suffering from the pandemic have so far recovered and been discharged from hospital in the country.

More than 35,538,123 tests have been carried out to detect coronavirus infections in the country.

New York, which is being hit the hardest by the novel coronavirus in the U.S, has so far reported more than 419,640 confirmed cases, with at least 32,166 deaths.

According to Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, coronavirus pandemic has so far claimed the lives of at least 525,180 people across the world.
