The Turkish ship ROSELINA-A was stopped by the German frigate in the Peloponnese, in violation of international law, during the Operation Irini, under the direction of a commander from the Greek Navy.

Soldiers deployed from a helicopter and boarded the Turkish ship ROSELINA-A that was carrying humanitarian aid to Libya.

The Turkish-flagged “ROSELINA-A” ship had set sails from Istanbul, according to the Turkish officials.

The European Union Naval Force Mediterranean Operation IRINI (EUNAVFOR MED IRINI) was launched on March 31, with the aim to enforce the United Nations arms embargo to Libya.

Operation IRINI is a European Union military operation under the umbrella of the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP).

The operation is using aerial, maritime and satellite assets.
