Ishaq Pasha Palace attracts visitors every season

The Ishaq Pasha palace, which is a prominent Ottoman-period palace, is attracting the visitor all year round, including winter season.

A+A-

Ishaq Pasha Palace is more of a complex than a mere palace. It is our second administrative campus after the Topkapı Palace in İstanbul and the most famous of the palaces built at recent decades.

The palace, which was built on a hill at the side of a mountain 5 km. east of Doğubeyazıt District, is the last large monumental structure of the Ottoman Empire in the "Lale Devri" Period.

It is one of the most distinguished and magnificent examples of the 18th century Ottoman architecture and is very valuable in terms of art history.

According to the top of the door inscription at the Harem Section it was constructed in 1784 (1199 H.) according to the Islamic calendar.

As the ground building sits on is a valley slope, it is rocky and hard. Despite the fact that it is at the center of the Old Beyazıt city its three sides (north, west and south) are steep and sloped. There is a suitable flat area only to the east. The entrance of the palace is on that side. It is also its narrowest façade.

Today we have very few examples of the historical Turkish palaces still surviving. One of these is the İshaq Pasha Palace and complex.

300 thousand people visited the palace in 2019

Yasemin Gözgözoğlu, who came from Ankara with a tour group and visited the Ishak Pasha Palace, said that she had been always curious about the palace and went on: "We have a small tour group. I had come up to Erzurum province in the Eastern Anatolia region before, but I was very curious about Ishaq Pasha Palace. Our trip started from Van, We came to Doğubayazıt on the 3rd day of the trip. Here we visited the Ishaq Pasha Palace."

"This palace is important place for me, I never thought I'd be able to visit it 20 years ago but I have been able to come and visit it. It is great to be here. I am very impressed with the beauty of the palace. I would like to thank those people for taking so much trouble, building such a beautiful work under difficult circumstances and leaving it to us," she added.

Expressing his admiration for the palace, Erkan Öz, tour guide, said: "This is one of our duties in the first place to introduce our national value and history to all citizens of the country. Of course, we must come and see the palace. Both I and the other people on our tour are very pleased that we came here.
