Turkey: 119,574 houses were sold in October

In Turkey, house sales decreased by 16.3% in October 2020 compared to the same month of the previous year and hence, became 119 thousand 574, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement, for the house sales of October 2020, İstanbul had the highest share of house sales with 18.6% and 22 thousand 270 sold house. The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with 10 thousand 624 house sales and İzmir 6 thousand 846 house sales with the share of 8.9% and 5.7% respectively. The least house sold provinces were Ardahan with 16 house sales, Hakkari with 24 house sales and Bayburt with 71 house sales.

In October 2020, 25 thousand 566 ownership of the houses changed by mortgage sales

The mortgaged house sales throughout Turkey became 25 thousand 566 by decreasing 49.3% compared to the same month of the previous year. House sales with mortgage had a 21.4% share of all house sales in Turkey. İstanbul has the highest mortgage house sales in Turkey with 5 thousand 494 sales and with the share of 21.5%. The least mortgage house sales were realized in Ardahan and Hakkari with 4 house sales.

Ownership of 94 thousand 8 houses changed by other sales

Other house sales in Turkey became 94 thousand 8 by increasing 1.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the other sales, İstanbul was the first province with 16 thousand 776 sales and 17.8% share. Other house sales had 75.3% share of all house sales in İstanbul. Ankara was the second province with 7 thousand 942 sales. Ankara was followed by İzmir with 5 thousand 154 sales. The least other house sales were realized in Ardahan with 12 house sales.

In house sales, 36 thousand 976 of houses were sold for the first time

First house sales in Turkey became 36 thousand 976 by decreasing 26.3% compared to the same month of the previous year. First house sales had 30.9% share of all house sales in Turkey. The most first house sales were in İstanbul with 6 thousand 401 sales. İstanbul was the first province in Turkey ranking that had most first house sales share with 17.3%. The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with 2 thousand 409 house sales and İzmir with a thousand 797 house sales.

Ownership of 82 thousand 598 houses changed by second hand sales

Second hand house sales in Turkey became 82 thousand 598 by decreasing 10.8% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the second-hand sales, İstanbul was the first province with 15 thousand 869 sales and 19.2% share. Share of the second-hand sales was 71.3% in İstanbul in total house sales. Ankara was the second province with 8 thousand 215 sales and Ankara was followed by İzmir with 5 thousand 49 sales.

Houses sales increased by 27.0% in January-October period

In the January-October period, a million 280 thousand 852 houses were sold and increased by 27.0% compared to the same period of the previous year. In the January-October period, sales of mortgaged houses were 534 thousand 256 and increased by 124.2%, and in other types of sales, it was 746 thousand 596 and decreased by 3.0%. Houses sold for the first time in this period was 396 thousand 184 increasing by 2.3%. Second-hand house sales were 884 thousand 668 and also increased by 42.5%.

In October 2020, 5 thousand 258 houses were sold to foreigners

In house sales to foreigners became 5 thousand 258 by increasing 23.1% compared to the same month of the previous year. İstanbul was the first province with 2 thousand 458 sales in October 2020. The followers of İstanbul were Antalya with 928 house sales, Ankara with 347 house sales, Yalova with 187 house sales and Bursa with 186 house sales.

In January-October period, house sales to foreigners became 31 thousand 423 by decreasing 13.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Most house sales were made to Iraq citizens according to country nationalities

In October, Iraq citizens bought 909 houses from Turkey. The followers of Iraq were Iran with 849 house sales, Russia with 400 house sales, Afghanistan with 225 house sales and Kazakhstan with 213 house sales.
