United States reports 61,262 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours

1,051 people have died from coronavirus in the past 24 hours, rising the United States’ death toll from the virus to 159,907, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The U.S. has the highest death toll from coronavirus in the world, followed by Brazil with 93,616 deaths, Mexico with 47,472 deaths and the United Kingdom with 46,193 deaths.

4,774,590 people have until now tested positive for coronavirus in the country, an increase of 61,262 new cases in the past 24 hours.

Until now, at least 2,363,229 patients suffering from the pandemic have recovered and been discharged from hospital in the country.

At least 59,259,593 tests have been carried out to detect coronavirus infections in the country.

New York, which is being hit the hardest by the novel coronavirus in the U.S, has so far reported more than 444,388 confirmed cases, with at least 32,773 deaths.

According to Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, coronavirus pandemic has so far claimed the lives of at least 689,978 people across the world.
